ENGL 101 English Composition I (3)
This is a freshman course required by the College of all students. This course is an introduction to and concentration on the basic communication skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Pre-requisite: Acceptable score on appropriate placement test.

ENGL 102 English Composition II (3)
In this course that is a continuation of English Composition I, students use literary forms and other means of communication. Emphasis on longer and more complex writing and speaking assignments: introduction to the research paper. Pre-requisite: ENGL 101

SOCI 111 Principles of Sociology (3)
This basic course introduces the student to the major concepts, methods, research findings, and theoretical approaches of sociology. The course deals with social organization, functioning, and change.

PSYC 110 Introduction to Psychology (3)
This course provides a general survey of psychological theories, principles, and research. Topics include: biological foundations of behavior, sensation, perception, learning, personality theory, and social psychology.

CHEM 117 Principles of Chemistry I (3)
CHEM 1117 Laboratory to accompany CHEM 117 (1)
A survey of the fundamentals of inorganic, organic and an introduction to biochemistry. Topics in inorganic chemistry include atomic structure, chemical bonding and reactions and a treatment of acids and bases. The major classes of organic compounds are studied as a basis for understanding the nature of biological compounds.

BIOL 236 Principles of Anatomy and Physiology I (4)
This is a comprehensive study of the structure and function of the human body including the skeletal, muscular, endocrine and nervous systems. This is a required course for medical technology students and is recommended for nursing and paramedical students.

BIOL 237 Principles of Anatomy and Physiology II (4)
This is a continuation of BIOL 236 Principles of Anatomy and Physiology. Topics for lecture/labs include the digestive, excretory, reproductive, circulatory and respiratory systems. Pre-requisites: BIOL 236

BIOL 303 Microbiology (4)
This is a survey of microorganisms with emphasis on the bacteria and applications of microbiology. Laboratories stress isolation, cultivation, biochemical, and identification techniques of selected bacteria and other microorganisms. Pre-requisites: CHEM 117
