Re: Proposed Mountainside/Caldwell College BSN Partnership
From: Louise DeBlois Director, School of Nursing
Mountainside Hospital has entered into a partnership agreement with Caldwell College that will result in the creation of a Bachelor of Science (BSN) nursing program following approval of the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
Please note:
· This proposed new program will apply to incoming freshmen in September, 2010 with admissions handled by Caldwell College. Current freshmen will be the last graduating class of our diploma program in Spring, 2011.
· The role of Mountainside Hospital will be to support the Mountainside Hospital Center for Nursing Practice.
· All existing student records will be preserved.
· Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing faculty will continue to educate students in the third and fourth years of the new BSN program.
· It is anticipated that clinical instruction will continue at Mountainside Hospital with a strong clinical orientation.
Throughout its history, the Mountainside School of Nursing has distinguished itself as a premier educational institution and generations of our graduates have achieved success in their profession. Anticipated regulatory efforts are increasingly focused on establishing the BSN as the educational standard for nurses in the future.
Mountainside’s tradition and reputation as an institution that prepares caring individuals for pivotal nursing roles with a strong emphasis on clinical preparation will endure.
Please reserve May 21, 2010 for a very special alumni luncheon celebrating our proud history and exciting future.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
